Perth and Canberra are two of the fastest growing Australian cities and are ranked as the 22nd and 30th best cities in the world respectively. But, these are not the only growing Australian cities to rank as some of the best in the world, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane also ranked favourably.
Sydney was rated as Asia-pacific best city to live in according to a recent survey. A quality of living table that considers climate, housing and other aspects of living rated Sydney as the only Asia-pacific city to make the survey’s top 10. Coming 10th, Sydney was closely followed by Melbourne in 16th. Other cities that ranked were Adelaide in 27th and Brisbane in 37th.
City Population Growth
The Australian Bureau of Statistics report that Perth’s population grew by 2.5 percent during the 2013/14 financial year to 2 million. While the ACT grew by 1.2 percent to 386,000.
Sydney’s population rose by 1.8 percent to 4.8 million, and Melbourne is now closely following Sydney with a rise of 2.2 percent to 4.4 million. Brisbane climbedby 1.7 percent to 2.3 million, and Adelaide grew by 1 percent to 1.3 million.
While these cities are growing considerably in size, there liveability in terms of infrastructure, health and education is high, whereas they have low levels of violence when compared to other regions in the world. This places them high on the world’s most desirable cities.
Therefore, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide are considered as world cities and beat the likes of Hong Kong, Los Angeles, London, and New York. These cities are considered as some of the best places to live in the world.
