With thousands of nominations pouring in from across the country, Wotif had the hard task of sifting through the many entries submitted across the six iconically Aussie categories. The entries saw a combination of fierce local loyalty, a love of “servo” sausage rolls and treasured gems that everyone could agree on.
“The Wotif Uniquely Aussie Awards are about celebrating the unsung hero, and we’re thrilled to see these local business and attractions receive the support and praise they deserve,” says Wotif Managing Director, Daniel Finch.

Best Main Street: Hastings Street, Noosa (QLD)
It’s something that Noosa locals already know, but the people of Australia have now confirmed it: Hastings Street is Australia’s Best Main Street.
This lush strip in the seemingly always-sunny Queensland city not only features some of the country’s most prestigious real estate but is also brimming with relaxing holidays stays, boutique shops and world-class restaurants, all of which makes it that much more unique.
The laid-back charm of the area is brought to life along this street and is why it remains a firm favourite among visitors and locals alike.
Best Swimming Spot: Tallebudgera Creek, Gold Coast (QLD)
In the market for the perfect swimming spot? Sandwiched between Palm Beach and Burleigh Heads National Park, you’ll find this year’s winner – Tallebudgera Creek.
With such an idyllic location, it’s no wonder these sparkling waters made the list.
As one voter noted, “it’s a favourite for almost anyone who grew up on the Gold Coast. The water is clear and still, and it suits all ages. One side is great for families with little ones, the other for groups of friends or solo beachgoers.”
It’s not hard to see why Tallebudgera Creek took out the country’s top swimming spot.
Best Roadside Pitstop: The Famous Berry Donut Van, Berry (NSW)
Everyone loves a sugar-fuelled pitstop while on a holiday road trip, but this roadside institution is a destination in its own right.
With people going out of their way to sample its tasty treats, The Famous Berry Donut Van’s win shows how much it warms the hearts and tummies of many lucky Australians.
Best Regional Chinese Restaurant: Toi Shan, Bendigo (VIC)
After spending over 110 years serving up Chinese delicacies to the people of Bendigo, it’s no wonder Toi Shan was awarded the top gong of best – and oldest – regional Chinese restaurant.
Best Sausage Roll: Bourke Street Bakery (NSW)
While the category saw plenty of “servo” nominations, this Surry Hills institution rolled the competition for the country’s favourite flaky pastry.
Bourke Street Bakery has been serving up Sydney’s tastiest baked goods for 14 years, so it’s good to see that the rest of the country can agree on how scrumpy their much-loved sausage rolls are – sauce or no-sauce debate notwithstanding.
Best Fish and Chips: Pelican Rocks Caf, Greenwell Point (NSW)
After being crowned the best fish and chips shop in NSW two years running, there’s no denying Pelican Rocks puts on one of the country’s best seafood spreads – no matter if you prefer yours crumbed, grilled or battered.
